Join one of our safari tours and discover the nature of Horsterwold

Rutting Safari

The rut: the end of summer, the fallow deer seek love. During this period, the males make their mating calls, known as rutting, and compete in various ways for the females. Experience the rut with Staatsbosbeheer; on foot or with the Eco-cart through the forested Horsterwold.

Boat Safari

Step onto the barge and sail through the canals of Horsterwold. You will sail over the Blauwe Diamant and the Hoge Vaart, the largest canals running through Horsterwold and Flevoland. Along the way, you might encounter a beaver, otter, or kingfisher, but you will certainly see many different waterfowl. The guide from Staatsbosbeheer can tell you more about them.

Eco-cart Safari

Join the guide from Staatsbosbeheer on a safari through the Stille Kern of Horsterwold. Step into the eco-cart and discover the highlights of this new wilderness in Flevoland's youngest nature development area. Look out for the wild horses, and with some luck, you might also spot the roe deer and fallow deer of this region. The guide will tell you about the lives of these animals and their role in the landscape. 

Canoe Safari

Come search for the beaver in Horsterwold. Take a 7.5 km canoe trip through Horsterwold. Using two- or three-person canoes, you will paddle through the beautiful, varied Horsterwold, the habitat of the beaver. Along the way, you will look for beaver tracks and lodges. Hopefully, you will also see the beaver itself! Of course, there are other wild animals in this area that leave their tracks. The ranger will tell you more about them.

Walking Safari

Wander endlessly through a free area. In the distance, a herd of Konik horses roams. A sea eagle flies over the water, and geese rummage through the reeds. During a walk through the Stille Kern, you can freely discover and experience nature. Together with the ranger, you will explore the Stille Kern in search of Konik horses and Scottish Highland cattle.

🐕 Can my dog come with me to Resort the Pearl?

Yes, we offer pet-friendly lodges. Please note; please keep your dog on a leash at the resort. When selecting the number of guests, please also select the number of pets you are bringing along, this way you can be sure that your faithful four-legged friend can come along. The charge for this is €10.00 per day per pet.
