DISCOVER THE NATURE AROUND ZEEWOLDE

The Horsterwold is our backyard, but there is much more to discover. Each area has its own character. In the Priembos you walk through young forest and see the tracks of beavers along the banks. The Voorlanden offer small beaches, open heaths and colorful grasslands. In Natuurpark Lelystad you cycle past wisents and Przewalski horses, while in the Stille Kern you experience peace and quiet and see Konik horses roaming freely. Nature corridor De Grote Trap connects all these places with Nationaal Park Nieuw Land, the Randmeren and the Veluwe. This creates a succession of landscapes where you can wander for hours and experience nature.

WHERE NATURE SHOWS ITSELF

Walking through the nature around Zeewolde, you soon notice that you are not alone. In the woods you can hear woodpeckers tapping against the trunks and sometimes see a fox disappear between the trees. Along the banks, beavers build their dams and a kingfisher flashes by. Konik horses and Scottish Highlanders graze in the open fields. Above all, look up: regularly a bald eagle floats by, wings spread wide. In spring the roadsides are full of wild flowers, and in autumn the forest displays a palette of yellow, red and orange.

Where nature shares its secrets

Around Zeewolde you discover something new every time. In the Priembos you walk through young, fresh greenery. It feels intimate and surprising, like stepping into a small hidden piece of forest. In Natuurpark Lelystad, the landscape opens up; wisents and Przewalski horses graze peacefully in the vast fields. At De Voorlanden the picture changes again: flowery grasslands, small beaches and heaths alternate, while birds call above the open plains.
