Join one of our safari tours and discover the nature of Horsterwold

Bronze safari in the Horsterwold

At the end of summer, you notice the forest changing. Fallow deer start looking for a mate. Males bellow deeply and compete with each other to impress. With the Forestry Commission, you can see this up close. Walk along with a guide or get into the Eco-cart and drive along the quiet paths of the Horsterwold, while the deer make their sounds and you feel the rhythm of the forest.

Boat ride through the Horsterwold

Hop on the pram and let yourself be swept gently along the silent canals. You glide along the Blue Diamond and the Hoge Vaart, wide waterways that run through the Horsterwold and Flevoland. Along the way you look along the banks: a beaver might quickly submerge, a kingfisher shoots by like a flash of blue, and if you're lucky you'll see an otter. What you always see are the many water birds flying over the water or searching along the banks. The Forestry Commission's guide will point out anything that moves and let you experience the forest from the water.

Walking safari in the Silent Core

You walk through a large, free area where nature follows its own rhythm. Konik horses graze in the distance, a bald eagle glides silently over the water and geese root through the reeds. Together with the forest ranger you search for the horses and the Scottish Highlanders. It is quiet, it is open, and you notice how the forest naturally slows you down.
